#OnePride Answers: Why You Lion?

Question: Why are you a Lions fan?

I asked #onepride to tell me why you all are Lions fans. The answers, which you'll find below, range from being born near Detroit to pure randomness.

For me, a sports-loving kid in Kalamazoo without cable, watching Lions games on Sunday was the best part of my week each fall. I drank Honolulu blue kool-aid at a young age, and my pasion and interest in the Lions only grew over time.

After getting a full-time job and moving out of my parents house, I applied for, and secured, Lions season tickets. I still have my invoices! Although I moved out of state in 2008, which was also my last season as a season ticket holder, I've never stopped representing the Lions here in Central Illinois. I can be seen wearing random vintage jerseys in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois and go to as many games as I can.

  • "When I was seven, my uncle gave me a Herman Moore jersey that his then-stepson outgrew. It came down to my knees, and I wore it until he got it autographed for me in high school. Fan for life." - @Colleen_DET_Fan

  • "born and raised. Old enough to watch Matt Stafford and Megatron dazzle teams, young enough to not be entirely jaded and cynical about them." - @PatrickBattle18

  • "I grew up in a state with no pro teams, and in a family that doesnt watch sports. I moved to MI for a few years and then went back to AR and my friends needed an extra in a fantasy league around ~2010. I drafted Stafford for a few years then quit ff and went full lions." - @HitOned30

  • "Earliest memory of football was of a young man walking down the tarmac with a suitcase and my Dad saying, hey we got the Heisman trophy winner, that should help..the first time I watched Barry run I was hooked..it is amazing how it continues to be just a game of inches." - @ttennysonTDR

  • "Barry Sanders. As an 8 yr old kid with an uncommon name it was awesome to find a player that shared your same name. Been a fan ever since. Been difficult at times especially living in Wisconsin dealing with gb fans. Man do I hate the packers!" - @Doering_barry

  • "My dad was a super big fan his whole life. Started taking me to games when I was like 6. It was honestly the only time we got to spend together was Sunday afternoons." -@Derps2ndCousin
